Camie Chiles
Lead Vocals

Camie grew up in ad around musical theatre, and adds a powerful dimension of class and elegance to The Chain of Fools. She worked extensively in the Japan cabaret circuit and in 1989 was the Bay Area Cabaret Bold award winner for jazz and blues. Camie also played the lead role in the operetta, Billy's Song, which won 5 awards in the Bay Area for Best Musical. She comes to the Chain of Fools after working with local bands Scott Brothers and Pride and Joy.

William Mininfield
Lead Vocals

William's talent is a genuine expression of the heart. His versatile style spans from classical to swing and from gospel to pop. He has performed with and conducted a variety of vocal ensembles, voice choirs, jazz band and orchestras. He has written music for radio and television jingles, and produced music demo tapes for Karen White, Mixed Company and Black America, providing him a wealth of experience and the ability to create unique blends of musical styles. William is the current music director at Soaring Oaks Church and his debut CD, Love Rain was released in several years ago.

Scott Beall
Lead Guitar/vocals/business manager

Scott's career began at the age of 9 playing in most of the major concert halls in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as various television shows, with a novelty pop/rock act called The Juveniles. The years to follow entailed work in scores of rock club bands, as well as studio, theater and big band dates. By 1980 his credits included a BA Degree in music composition, producer and guitarist for Hot Spoons Productions and having backed up such artists as John Hendricks and Cal Tjader and opening shows for Huey Lewis, The Tubes, Billy Idol, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Johnny Winter. Scott is also a teacher an author. His first book, Functional Melodies is a curriculum combining music with mathematics and was published by Key Curriculum Press in 2000.

John Condon
Drums/site manager

John’s background in rhythm and blues, pure blues, funk and swing jazz makes him the ideal drummer to support the versatility of The Chain of Fools. He has performed with such artists as B.B. King, Elvin Bishop, Clarence Clemmons, Roberta Flack, and Etta James. A long time member for the highly successful Pacific Brass and Electric and Stu Blank And His Nasty Habits, John has also enjoyed stints with the Fairmont Hotel house band.

Ron Gurwitz
Bass guitar

“Ronnie” lays down the “thump” that makes them jump. He has toured internationally for many years with Rubicon, led by Jerry Martini from Sly and the Family Stone. Inbetween numerous recording dates in the San Francisco Bay Area he has performed in bands with John Lee Hooker, Mike Carabello from Santana, The Ford Blues Band and Brian Auger.

Brian Withycombe
Keyboardist/musical director

Brian’s recording career makes him the perfect addition to THE CHAIN OF FOOLS, bringing the backbone of versatility and musical direction so necessary for authentic versatility. His performances, compositions and studio productions have grace over 300 published recordings worldwide. Ten of his own albums have combined sales topping 200,000 units and his music is heard around the world by over 20,000,000 people daily. He has also performed live with such artists as Robin Ford, John Lee Hooker and Elvin Bishop.

Tom Politzer
Sax/Clarinet/Flute

Tom Politzer has had an extensive performance and recording career in the Bay Area and has toured throughout the world. He is founder and leader of a the fusion jazz/pop band Spang-A-Lang. His recording work includes dozens of CDs produced by Brian Withycombe and he currently tours with the Tower of Power when he is not playing with The Chain of Fools.

John Worley
Trumpet/Flugelhorn

JOHN is a musician, composer and jazz educator and has been a member in many of the Bay Area’s creative music ensembles. Being adept at a multitude of styles, John has played with many national and international artists in Canada, Europe, Central and North America. His recording and performance credits include: Don Byron at the Monterey Jazz Festival 2002, Stanley Clarke at Yoshi’s, Sam Rivers at the 2001 Stanford Jazz Workshop, Wayne Shorter Sextet and the Monterey Jazz Festival Chamber Orchestra at the 2000 Monterey Jazz Festival, Richie Cole and the Alto Madness Orchestra at the 2000 TCI San Jose Jazz Festival, Boz Scaggs 2000 Blues Revue, Asian American Orchestra at the 1999 Chicago and Monterey Jazz Festivals, 1998 Monterey Jazz Festival’s tribute to Bobby Hutchinson with McCoy Tyner, Rebeca Mauleon and Round Trip. Wayne Wallace and Rhythm and Rhyme, Louie Bellson, Joe Henderson Big Band, Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Herman, Quincy Jones, Pete Escovedo, Sheila E., Natalie Cole, Brilliant Corners Tentet, Jon Jang and the Pan-Asian Arkestra, Bay Area Jazz Composers Orchestra, Wally Schnalle Quintet and the Turtle Island String Quartet.

The Asian American Orchestra latest CD, FAR EAST SUITE was nominated for a Grammy in 1999.

John is currently teaching trumpet and jazz combo at San Francisco State University, teaches privately at stores and music studios on the SF. Peninsula. He is a coach and instructor at the Stanford Jazz Workshop and is an endorsing artist for United Musical Instruments and plays the Conn Vintage One Bb Trumpet & Flugelhorn and the Benge 90C trumpet. John’s debut CD entitled “WorlView” is scheduled for release in the fall of 2002.
